LEAGUE ONE Plymouth Argyle 3 Bolton Wanderers 0

EFL logo cropRyan Lowe’s Plymouth Argyle maintained top spot in League One with a 3-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers at rain-lashed Home Park.

Victory made it three League One wins on the spin and 13 unbeaten for the in-form greens.

Brendan Galloway got Argyle off to a flying start with a cheeky backheel goal at the far post from Conor Grant’s corner - helped on by Dan Scarr - on six minutes.

Grant took centre stage on 15 minutes with a superb finish from outside the box, sending a grasscutter skimming off the wet surface and into the bottom corner past diving keeper Joel Dixon.

Ryan Broom sealed victory in stoppage time, roofing home, after sub Danny Mayor and Ryan Hardie’s efforts had held up on the soaked pitch.

Mayor had the werewithal to spot an opportunity in the wet conditions, skipping between two Bolton players to nick the ball away and then beat Dixon midway in the Bolton half before making his way into the penalty area, chased down by Wanderers.

Panutche Camara, Broom and top scorer Hardie all had first half efforts blocked or saved as the Greens poured forward in the teeming rain.

Camara came even closer to increasing Argyle’s lead in the 64th minute but his measured close range effort bounced back off the post with Dixon beaten.

Former Argyle midfielder and Bolton second half sub Antoni Sarcevic came closest to reducing the arrears cutting in from the left but his shot on the run flew just wide of Michael Cooper's goal.

The rain got heavier - if that was possible - from the 85th minute with Broom eventually sealing victory in the final minute of stoppage time.
