SWPL EAST Okehampton Argyle 0 Ivybridge Town 3

IVYBRIDGE Town continued their impressive start to the South West Peninsula League season with a fifth win on the spin, at Okehampton.

Ivybridge shaded an evenly contested first half and took a 1-0 interval lead with an early goal from in-form Fletcher Williams, who fired home from the edge of the penalty area for his fourth goal of the season.

The second half saw Ivybridge prove more dominant as they increased their lead on the hour with a penalty from Jordan Ewing following a foul on Curtis Legrice.

Jake Lane completed the scoring in the closing stages with a fine individual goal after breaking through from the halfway line and rounding off his run with a well-struck shot.

Ivybridge had a number of other opportunities and Isaac McCue had the ball in the net only to see his effort ruled offside.

Overall, it was another effective performance by Ivybridge, who now have scored 12 goals in their five matches with only two against.

The Ivies now have a run of three home matches starting with a clash against Torrington, who visit Erme Valley next Saturday, followed by home games against Newton Abbot Spurs on Wednesday (August 31) and Axminster Town on Saturday (September 3).

Axminister have also made a fine start to the season, winning their first four matches and could overtake Ivybridge at the top of the table if they beat Elmore at home on Tuesday.

SWSN star Fletcher Williams again!
