Having joined teammate Callum O’Brien in celebrating 200 appearances prior to kick off, Saltash skipper Dave Barker marked the occasion with a goal in either half to help propel the Ashes to victory.
Callum Martindale got the ball rolling after just three minutes, with Barker restoring Saltash’s lead in first half stoppage time after Shea Bennington-Mannings had drawn Ashton level.
Adam Carter then helped build a two-goal advantage, before Barker added a fourth.
Shepton Mallet fell to a 1-0 surprise defeat at Falmouth. After eight consecutive Premier wins to start the season, third placed Mallet have now lost two on the bounce, as a superb header from Scott Kellow early in the second half won the game.
Buckland’s run of form shows no signs of slowing, with a late surge helping them beat visitors Helston.
Ryan Bush was again among the goals, opening the scoring after half an hour. Josh Webber then struck twice in the space of seven second-half minutes to put the result beyond doubt, with Scott Crocker adding some gloss to the score line in stoppage time.
Clevedon Town hit back to beat Street 2-1, moving into the top half thanks to back-to-back league wins. Having fallen behind after just five minutes to a Korey Andrews strike, Clevedon responded well with Freddie King heading home the equaliser before Ethan Feltham completed the comeback midway through the first half.
Millbrook battled back from a goal down to beat Welton 3-1 at West Clewes and soar into the top 10.
Rovers, who had won three on the bounce, went ahead inside 10 minutes as Tom Diamond opened his account for the club.
A Ben Goulty header midway through the first half med it 1-1 until the final moments when Millbrook surged ahead.
Josh Toulson finished well before Kieran O’Melia struck on the counter attack to in the 10th minute of stoppage time.
Millbrook’s east Cornwall neighbours Torpoint Athletic have now won two games in a row after beating Keynsham 3-2 in an early-season basement battle.
Sam Hillson got Torpoint off to a flyer, only for the Ks to hit back just prior to half time through Will Sage. In-form Curtis Damerell restored Athletic’s advantage from the spot, with Callum Holder then heading home soon after to make it 3-1. Sahr Nanoh trimmed the lead in the 85th minute.
Bitton remain without a league win after goals from Sam Towler and 16-year-old Kelson Pollard led Wellington a 2-1 victory.
Cadbury Heath also remain in the bottom three despite securing a 1-1 draw at home to Sherborne. The Zebras went ahead early in the second half through Henry Lawrence-Napier, but were unable to maintain their lead as Josiah McKayle restored parity on 70.
Mousehole’s Max Hill scored a stoppage time leveller as the Seagulls drew 2-2 with Ilfracombe. Harry Stevens broke the deadlock after 18 minutes to put Town ahead, before Mousehole made it 1-1 thanks to Hayden Turner. The hosts were then given the chance to complete the turnaround on the hour mark but Adam Seedhouse-Evans was able to save the spot kick, with Ilfracombe punishing their hosts soon after by moving back into a single-goal lead.
