The victory takes Ivybridge through to the last 16 of the competition with third round ties due to be played on or before January 2.
Although Ivybridge were not at their best against Launceston, they clinched their victory with Luke Forward hitting his eighth goal of the season, from a 65th minute Lewis Dickson cross.
Ivybridge manager Darren Stewart said: “It was a bit of a struggle for us. We created chances , but we lacked fluency and we know we can play better.
“It was good for Luke Forward to get the winner. He had a couple of chances in the first half that he would normally put away and he was in the right position to score when Lewis Dickson put a good ball across the box for our goal.”
Next up for Ivybridge is a visit to Bovey Tracey in the FA Vase first round on Saturday.
A third cup competition for Ivybridge is the Devon County St Luke’s Bowl in which they will be away to Brixham in the second round on Tuesday, November 8.
Meanwhile Ivybridge remain two points clear at the Peninsula East Division summit and face a visit from second placed Dartmouth on Wednesday October 26.
Ivybridge will be looking to complete a league double over their rivals, having won 4-0 at Dartmouth early in the season.
Looking ahead to the return match, Stewart says: “The big games keep coming. When we went to Dartmouth we won quite comfortably with what was probably our best performance of the season.”
