KJM SPORT REPORT Millbrook AFC 4 Sherborne Town 2

Millbrook AFC LogoMILLBROOK rounded off a perfect week with a comprehensive Western Premier victory at Jenkins Park over a Sherborne side who scored two late goals to give the scoreline some respectability.

Macca Brown’s side never looked back after scoring three times in 11 minutes midway through the first half.

Ryan Knight gave them a 24th minute lead before two goals in five minutes from Tylor Love-Holmes made it 3-0 in the 35th minute.

Youngster Noah Crump produced a stunning shot to increase the lead after 78 minutes before Sherborne’s response in the 80th and 90th minutes through Ben Mwaruwari Jr and Alex Murphy.

Brown said: “It’s been a fantastic seven days; three wins, 10 goals, six points and a place in the final of the Cornwall Senior Cup and I was hugely impressed by us on Saturday.

“It’s really easy to lower your levels after the high that we experienced midweek, but we picked up where we left off on Tuesday with an energised first half that saw us go in 3-0 up.

“We had to make some changes to the team, we had some niggles after midweek with Jake Foster and Kieran O’Melia both out, and then we lost JJ (Josh Johnson) after half an hour.

“However, the lads who came into the team were excellent. Tylor came on and contributed with two superb goals before half-time, Knighty caused them all sorts of problems and JT (Josh Toulson) worked tirelessly.

“We actually could have been more than three goals to the good in my opinion, but it’s been a long time since we’ve gone in at the break with such an advantage so we weren’t going to complain.”

Brown went on: “Sherborne came out with a bit more fire in the second half, and we managed the game really well.

“I felt if we were able to kill the game in the first 20 minutes of the second half by not conceding, then we may go on and get a few more goals in the latter stages, and it looked that way when Noah buried our fourth with a great finish.

“I was delighted for him, he’s so young and has come into the squad since the New Year from our reserves and is fantastic, he had a bit of a low last weekend as he made an error that led to a goal but he has a brilliant character and that showed itself on Saturday.

“It was disappointing to concede the two late goals as I felt the performance was more convincing than a 4-2 score line, but they were goals that perhaps you don’t concede if the game is tighter and the concentration levels are higher.

“But it was a brilliant reaction from Tuesday and to have three wins in a week is always a great feeling.”
