That followed a 7-0 thrashing of Stoke Gabriel and sees Ivybridge leading the East Division table with five wins and a draw from their first six fixtures.
Saturday’s win was all the more creditable as Axminster went into the game defending an unbeaten record.
The lively Luke Forward opened the scoring for Ivybridge only for Axminster to equalise with a penalty before the interval.
Forward, who went on to secure the man of the match award, restored the Ivybridge lead in the second half with his sixth goal of the season.
Jack Alexander added a third before Bailey Gamble made it 4-1 with his first goal for the club. Ivybridge wrapped up victory with Bailey Mabin coming off the bench to complete the scoring.
The Ivys have a one-point lead over Bridport at the top of the table, although Dorset's Bees have a match in hand with a 100 per cent record from their five matches.
Next up for Ivybridge is a local derby at home to Elburton Villa on Wednesday evening (September 6, 1930) followed by a trip to Cullompton on Saturday.
