LEAGUE ONE Plymouth Argyle 0 Peterborough Utd 1

Peterborough striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan scored a 30th minute winner after pouncing on a rebound from Argyle keeper Luca Ashby-Hammond as the Posh won 1-0 at in-form Plymouth.

Ashby-Hammond managed to keep out Jacob Mendy’s thumping angled shot from the right but could do nothing to stop Morgan’s follow-up.

The Argyle keeper had saved a 23rd minute penalty from Harry Leonard after he had tripped Morgan, who tried rounding the diving keeper.

Argyle were convinced a 41st minute Alex Mitchell header had crossed the line when Alex Bass palmed the ball on to the bar and it appeared to bounce down behind the keeper.

Posh keeper Bass made a brilliant first half stoppage time to deflect Lorent Tolaj’s header, from a Brendan Wiredu left-wing cross, around the post.

Matty Sorinola sent a 25 yard drive just wide in the 56th minute as Argyle went in search of an equaliser.

On the hour Bass made another good save keeping out Bali Mumba’s long-range strike.

Tolaj’s 62nd minute scissor kick effort beat Bass, who may have got a crucial touch on the shot, but crashed off the underside of the bar.

Dangerman Tolaj’s audacious 30 yard attempt on 75 minutes was palmed around the post by Bass at full stretch.
