DEVON DERBY Plymouth Argyle 2 Exeter City 2

Malachi Boateng scored a 90th minute leveller as seventh placed Plymouth Argyle drew 2-2 with relegation haunted Exeter in the League One Devon derby at windswept Home Park.

Boateng profited in a goalmouth scramble as City keeper Jack Bycroft kicked the ball at him as City failed to clear a Xavier Amaechi cross, helped on by Alex Mitchell.

City took a 48th minute lead with the wind at their backs but against the run of play when Imari Nikskanen put Reece Cole in on goal and he clipped the ball past Conor Hazard from eight yards.

Argyle restored parity from a 79th minute Ronan Curtis corner headed home by top scorer Lorent Tolaj after the ball was headed back across goal from the far post by City sub Josh Magennis.

Exeter went 2-1 up in the 87th minute when top scorer Jayden Wareham spun on a Nikasen knock down from a throw-in to send a deflected strike past Hazard but City's joy was short-lived as Boateng restored parity at the Devonport End.

City's goal led a charmed life in the first half as Bycroft made a brilliant full stretch save to keep Tolaj’s goal bound strike-on-the-run out in the 34th minute and twice flapped the ball away to deny Boateng then Oseni in the 45th minute.

Owen Dale’s 47th minute cross skidded off the top of Bycroft’s bar.

City countered immediately to score infront of their 1,700 fans in the away end.

A draw does little to aid either side in their quest, Argyle to squeeze into the top six, City to escape the bottom four.
