Torquay United left back Kevin Nicholson admits his sensational last minute winner against Barnet is the best goal he has scored.
The 31-year-old agreed a new deal to extend his Plainmoor stay until summer 2014 in midweek and marked the occasion with a brilliant, rising stoppage time strike that flew into the top right hand corner past Barnet number one Dean Brill from 25 yards plus.
Nicholson was mobbed by his team-mates and cheered to the rafters by 2,000 home fans as he celebrated United’s sixth win in seven unbeaten League Two games in front of a packed Pop Side.
He said: “That’s the best goal I have scored in my career.
“And bar getting promoted probably one of the best feelings because you knew we had won.
“It took a while for it to register. I have got to work on my celebrations because they are terrible but once I realised that we had actually won the game I was out on my feet.
“Rene (Howe) and the rest of them were pretty much holding me up because it was an absolute release of tension.
“It was one of those goals, I knew as soon as it left my foot that it was going in."
After beating the in-form Bees, Nicholson added: “I am buzzing and without sounding to cheesy it’s the perfect way to finish the week. It’s all good.”
A sting in the tale? Nicholson's match-winner came in the fourth and final minute of stoppage time.
