Wayne Rooney was pleased with his first win as Plymouth Argyle head coach following a 3-0 EFL Cup first round victory over Cheltenham Town.

Rooney said: “I thought we were good. First half we had to be more patient with the ball.”

Bristol City boss Liam Manning was delighted with his side as they won 1-0 at relegation haunted Plymouth Argyle.

Manning said: “Before the Leicester game we talked about resetting after the international break and an eight-game 'season'. We’ve started well with the first two results now we've got an extremely difficult game next Saturday (at Sunderland) so let's not get too carried away.”

Plymouth boss Ian Foster admitted his disappointment following a last minute Coventry leveller deep in stoppage time for a 2-2 Championship draw.

Foster said: “We never get too excited when we win or too disappointed when we lose. Tonight is a difficult one. It feels like a defeat, it’s another point closer to where we want to be.”

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke praised his side for their 4-1 FA Cup extra time fourth round replay win at Championship rivals Plymouth.

Farke beamed: “It was nearly the perfect away performance. We were so dominant, we created so many chances, scored the goals but we also hit the crossbar twice and the post.”
