Teams from the National League top flight join the competition in the next round… 90 minutes away from the first round proper, when Football League clubs from Leagues One and Two set out on the road to Wembley.

The fourth qualifying round is on Saturday October 20, the draw for that round is live on Talksport next Monday from 1300.

Of today’s 40 third qualifying round ties EIGHT feature teams from the South West.

Jerry Gill’s Bath City benefit from home advantage against Isthmian Premier Lewes.

Bath are eighth in National league South, Lewes 11th in the Isthmian Prem, a step below.

Torquay United put seven plast Lymington on television last time out in the cup and are unbeaten since Gary Johnson took over at the helm last month.

They visit Brightlingsea Regent, 19th in the Isthmian Premier.

Gloucester City – whose manager Marc Richards stepped down on Tuesday to pursue his new role as Hereford FC head coach – will have caretakers Tom Webb and Mike Green in charge of their tricky cup tie against Dorking Wanderers.

Only 10 places separate 17th placed National League South Gloucester from in-form Dorking, fifth in the Isthmian Premier.

NLS basement side Weston-super-Mare host Coggeshall Town, 11th in Isthmian North, while Southern League One South side Bristol Manor Farm face possibly the toughest task of any of the regional sides left in the competition as they visit in-form Slough Town.

Slough are fifth in National League South and on a four-match winning league roll…

One of Manor Farm’s divisional rivals will win through as Winchester City host Cirencester Town while Southern Prem is assured of a representative as Martyn Rogers’ second placed Tiverton Town host mid-table Metropolitan Police at Ladysmead.

Southern Premier Poole Town also hope to progress, at Horsham, 14th in Isthmian South East.
