Dan Hart launches his managerial career with arguably the most difficult fixture of the Peninsula Premier West season, a trip to leaders Mousehole.
While a few of the Launceston players might go in trepidation to Trungle Parc after the club’s 8-0 defeat at the hands of Jake Ash’s side on the opening day of the season, Hart should have no such fears tomorrow.
He was part of the Saltash United squad which won 2-1 at Mousehole on September 26.
Although Launceston can hardly be compared with the Ashes at the moment, the Clarets travel to the far west bolstered by a couple of new signings completed during lockdown two.
Tom Ellacott has returned to Pennygillam after a spell with Camelford, while Hart has also persuaded former Argyle youth product James Bradley to rejoin the club.
There are some cracking fixtures on day one of the season’s resumption and Wadebridge Town against Helston Athletic is among the most intriguing.
Before lockdown, the Bridgers had been in excellent form while Helston had stuttered after an impressive start, although the shock 6-1 setback at Liskeard remains their only league defeat.
During the break, however, two influential players have left the club. Midfield man Neil Slateford’s move to Saltash was followed by top scorer Mark Goldsworthy being snapped up by title rivals Mousehole.
Camelford, one of the surprise packages in the opening chapter of the season, are at home to a St Dennis side boosted by several new signings who will make them a harder proposition.
High-riding Dobwalls travel to bottom of the table Godolphin Atlantic looking to maintain their top six challenge, while Penzance play only their second home league game of the season after clubhouse improvements with Newquay the visitors to Penlee Park.
St Austell’s highly-rated young side travel to Wendron while Sticker will face Porthleven at Burngullow Park.
Weather permitting, there’s plenty to entertain local football followers on the welcome return of the SWPL.
