Cheltenham Town FC logoOnly 20 years since they were playing Thatcham Town and Ton Pentre in the FA Cup - and less than 30 years since losing to Bideford and Minehead - Cheltenham Town will be running out to face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in tomorrow's third round.
It will seem like dreamland for the 5,000-strong Ruby Army who will board 56 coaches at Cheltenham Racecourse tomorrow morning, hoping for an upset.
Mark Yates’ League Two high-flyers are due to travel to London today and will be using Arsenal’s London Colney training ground to plot Spurs’ downfall.

It will be the fifth time Cheltenham have played top-flight opposition in competition, having lost to Newcastle (2-0) and Fulham (2-1) in the FA Cup, and Sunderland (1-0) and Stoke (3-2) in the League Cup.

The Rubies are unbeaten on their travels since a 4-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon on September 17, and reached this stage following a 1-0 win at Tranmere and 4-2 success at Luton.

Top scorer Darryl Duffy scored in both games, and has 11 goals, while the in-form midfield trio of Marlon Pack, Russ Penn and former Plymouth Argyle man Luke Summerfield will have a key role to play.

Town have no injury worries, and Yates’ only dilemma will be to choose between Josh Low and Jimmy Spencer on the right side of his front three.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has already said England defender Michael Dawson is pencilled in to play, while flying winger Aaron Lennon may also feature at some point.
Likely lads . . .
Tottenham Gomes; Corluka, Bassong, Dawson, Rose; Lennon, Livermore, Carroll, Krancjar; Pavlyuchenko, Defoe.

Cheltenham Scott Brown, Sido Jombati, Luke Garbutt, Alan Bennett, Steve Elliott, Marlon Pack, Luke Summerfield, Russ Penn, Jimmy Spencer, Kaid Mohamed, Darryl Duffy.
