Torquay United central defender Chris Robertson has joined Preston North End on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee.
Scotsman Robertson, 25, has been in outstanding, consistent form for United this term helping guide the soaring Gulls to fifth in League Two on the back of a five-match winning streak and one defeat in 14 league games.
The six foot three former Sheffield United defender has made 167 league appearances for the Gulls since joining them in 2007 and helping the team bounce back from relegation to the Conference in the 2-0 May 2009 play-off final win over Cambridge United at Wembley.
Dundee-born Robertson made a scoring debut for the Gulls in a 3-0 home win over Wycombe in March 2007 and subsequently established himself as the club’s towering number five.
