Torquay United FC boss Kevin Nicholson has added yet more experience to his new-look Gulls by signing highly rated 35-year-old Bristol-born keeper Ryan Clarke.
Clarke will replace American keeper Brendan Moore – who recently joined League 1 Rochdale on a two-year deal – as the new Gulls no 1.
Nicholson said: “I had three keepers on my radar and would have been delighted to have signed any of them.
“But Ryan topped the list because he has played the most games over the past two or three seasons.
“Most people will know him best from his time at Oxford and the bottom line is that he is a very good goalkeeper."
Clarke made over 230 appearances for Oxford helping them win promotion from the National League (then Conference Premier) back in 2010.
His contribution to the Us promotion-winning side was rewarded with a 3½ year deal as well as being voted player of the year.
Last summer he joined newly promoted League One AFC Wimbledon before spending the end of the season at Torquay’s National League rivals Eastleigh.
