The 21-year-old is Gary Caldwell’s sixth summer signing and joins the club for the entirety of the 2023/24 season.
As a youngster, Sinisalo began his career in his native Helsinki with Hyvinkään Palloseura and continued his development with HJK and Honka before joining Espoo – making his league debut aged just 15 - from where he was plucked by Aston Villa.
Sinisalo was a regular in the Villains’ under-18 and under-23 sides before joining Ayr United in September 2020. Sinisalo made 22 appearances for the Scottish side before he moved to League One outfit Burton Albion last summer. He played four matches for the Brewers before being recalled in January of this year.
In the same month, the Finn made his national team debut in a friendly with Estonia, having made a number appearances for his country at under-17, under-19 and under-21 level.
“Vil has been with us for a few weeks now and he's so eager to get going," Gary Caldwell said of his new signing.
"He cancelled his holiday to come down after international duty. He turned up at 6am on his first day full of energy and excitement.
"He comes with experience of league football at this level, as well as in Scotland and Finland, and he's played for his national team, so we are really excited to have him.
"He's ready, he's trained and he's up to speed and he already has a feel for the club."
