AMATEUR GOLF Hall and Li competing in Portugal

England golf logoEngland Boys internationals Harry Hall and Jamie Li are set to tee off at the Portugese Amateur Championship at Montado Golf Resort in Palmela today.

West Cornwall Golf Club's Hall, 17, is the reigning Welsh Youths Open champion. Last year he represented England Golf in the Irish Boys Open and the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters, finishing equal eighth.

Somerset's Li, 17, from Bath Golf Club finished equal sixth in last year’s McEvoy Trophy and tied seventh in the Fairhaven Trophy.

• Bristol's Bethan Popel and Cornwall's Sammie Giles are both set to fly out to Portugal for England Golf warm weather training later this week.

Gloucestershire 19-year-old Popel (Long Ashton Golf Club) and Saltash 20-year-old Giles (St Mellion International Resort) will both represent England Golf in the Nations Cup at the Spanish Women's Amateur Championships at Real Club Pineda in Seville at the end of the month.

Giles won the English Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Bath last July and is also Liphook Scratch Cup holder.

Popel has already represented England in a Nations Cup event this year, last month's Spanish championships.
