GOLF: DEVON DUO THROUGH TO BRITISH BOYS LAST 16

Devon teenagers Harrison Greenberry and Sam Edwards are through to the 85th Boys Amateur Championship fourth round (matchplay) at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.

 

Exeter’s Greenberry, 17, beat Denmark’s Peter Baek 3&2 while Bigbury’s Edwards beat Grant Forrest of Craigielaw 5&4 this morning and now play again this afternoon for a coveted place in the quarter finals.

 

In round two yesterday afternoon Greenberry beat Robin Sciot-Siegrist of France 5&3, Edwards overcame Hurly Long, of Germany, 3&2.

 

Royal North Devon’s Jimmy Mullen lost to Nicholas Inderthal, of Germany, 3&2, while Exeter 16-year-old Ryan Pope was beaten 2&1 by Adrian Meronk, of Poland.

 

Edwards qualified third following on one over par 143 (73, 70) behind Kenny Subregis, of France, three under on 139.

 

Qualifying rounds were held at Burnham and Enmore Park.

151 – Chris Fleming (Perranporth) 74, 77; Callum Taylor (Burnham & Berrow) 75, 76
