Greenberry - who led throughout - was three up heading to the 30th hole before requiring an up-and-down par for victory on the 37th hole after England Boys international Kelly staged a late fightback.

The 17-year-old Exeter Golf & Country Club member becomes the first Devon player to win the British boys' title since Mark Grieve emerged victorious over the same Somerset course back in 1982.

Greenberry beat Germany's Jeremy Paul in Saturday afternoon's semi-final to tee up yesterday's 36 hole final against Kelly, a 4&3 winner over Belgium's Thomas Detry.

Greenberry beat one of the championship favourites, England Boys international Oliver Carr of Heswall 3&2 in the quarter-finals following Friday's one hole fourth round win over Leighton Buzzard's Matt Hill to reach the quarter-final stage.

Carr, 18, was undefeated in six matches in England’s victory at last week’s Boys Home Internationals at Royal St David’s, Harlech.

Devon Boys' skipper Sam Edwards of Bigbury - who qualified third in the strokeplay - lost four and three to Kelly, of Boston West, in his fourth round match on Friday.
