AMATEUR GOLF Leigh joins England Boys elite squad

England Golf logo Cornwall's George Leigh is one of four teenagers celebrating an outstanding 2018 season by winning a place in the England Golf national boys’ squad.

The 16-year-old Trevose Golf Club ace joins eight established members of the under 18 squad, including Carris Trophy winner Barclay Brown and Boys’ Amateur Champion Conor Gough.

Leigh is the only South West player in the 12.

He finished sixth in the McGregor Trophy and in England’s winning teams for the U16 internationals against Wales and Ireland.

He also represented England in the Italian U16 championship and helped England beat Ireland in the recent mixed U16 international.
