england hockey board logoTeam Bath Buccaneers opened up a seven-point lead at the England Hockey League Men’s Conference West summit following yesterday’s 1-0 win at Havant.

Johnny Kinder scored the 56th minute winner as Buccs prospered on the south coast following the Saturday postponement of the rest of the men’s EHL weekend programme.

Buccs extended their MCW win streak to eight ahead of next Sunday’s trip to University of Birmingham based Bournville (12.30).

Tracy Jones’ 51st minute winner enabled unbeaten Women’s Conference West leaders Buckingham to soar seven points clear at the top of the table following their 1-0 win on the south coast, at Trojans.

Theirs was the only WCW game to beat the freeze, which put the rest of yesterday’s Investec Women’s Hockey League programme on ice.

• It was a good weekend for Buccs as their boys’ team won through to the national Under 18 Cup quarter finals, edging a hard fought fourth round tie 5-4 at Taunton Vale.
