Thorburn struck on the half hour in open play and two minutes later Hoskins doubled Spartans' lead from a short corner as Swansea opened up a six point lead over Leicester City at the Womens 1 North summit.
Today table-topping Swansea visit fourth placed Durham University at 1230 while Gloucester City - who start the day sixth - visit Leicester (1400).
The South West's only top 10 woemn's hockey side, Bristol-based Clifton Robinsons, host second placed Hampstead & Westminster at Coombe Dingle at 1300 today.
With only six rounds down unbeaten Hampstead have already opened up a 10-point gap over their Bristol hosts, who start the day sixth n six points.
