Promoted Gloucester City meet former West Clubs Women’s League rivals Isca University at Exeter today in the England Hockey League Women’s Conference West (12.30, University of Exeter Sports Park).
Unbeaten Isca secured second spot following a 4-1 win at Barnes Hounslow Ealing and two more goals for the division’s top scorer Claire Thomas while Gloucester will be boosted by their first league win, 3-2 over Swansea and goals for Emma Done (2) and Sarah Jennings.
Across Exeter, Exe – who won 4-1 at Staines last Saturday - host Southampton side Trojans (1300, St Luke’s Sports & Science College).
Trojans drew 0-0 at Isca on the opening day of the season and will seek a similar improved result today while aiming to half Linda Webb’s goal-a-game start to the season.
Team Bath Buccaneers – 2-0 winners at Trojans thanks to second half goals by Zoe Shipperley and Emma White – host a local derby against Firebrands (1300, University Sports Training Village).
Bristol based Brands lost 4-1 at home to leaders Buckingham last Saturday.
Swansea host Buckingham today (1200).
In the Women’s Premier Division third placed Clifton Ladies visit fifth placed Canterbury (1145) seeking to get back on track following their first EHL defeat, 1-0 at home unbeaten leaders Reading.
Men’s Premier Division side University of Exeter play their third successive away match at Beeston tomorrow (1400). Beeston will be seeking back to back home wins following last night’s 4-2 victory over Loughborough Students.
In Men’s Conference West tomorrow, Team Bath Buccaneers bid to build on their 3-2 home win over Bournville - and goals for Jonny Kinder, Matt Ruxton (pictured) and Thomas Alsop – at second from bottom Lichfield (1230).
Third placed Cardiff & UWIC are at home to leaders University of Birmingham (1230) while second placed Whitchurch visit Guildford (1200).
Cheltenham – beaten 3-0 by Cardiff & UWIC last Saturday - travel to Fareham (1330).
