Clifton Ladies Hockey Club are set to visit unbeaten Conference East leaders Surbiton in the Women’s Cup semi-final on March 25 following a successful double win weekend.
The Bristol-based Investec Women’s Hockey League side followed up Saturday’s 3-0 Premier Division win at Slough with a home 4-0 quarter final cup win over Chelmsford yesterday.
Frankie Mayes, Dawn Mitchell, Vicky Roper and Jo Carter scored for Clifton yesterday.
Chelmsford are seventh in the Women’s Conference East. Surbiton won 3-0 at league rivals Sevenoaks in their quarter final.
At Slough, Great Britain midfielder Georgina Twigg and Dutch ace Els Mansell were again on the score sheet for Clifton. Both players scored in the recent 2-1 home win over Canterbury.
This time Twigg struck first, after two minutes, with Mansell making it 2-0 in the 34th minute.
Aileen Davis added a third goal for Clifton following a 63rd minute penalty corner.
Clifton are fourth in the top flight three points ahead of Olton & West Warwicks, their league hosts on Saturday (1200).
