University of Exeter graduate and Reading forward Tom Carson fired England into the men's Hero Hockey World League Final semi-finals in New Delhi, India.
The Somerset-based former University of Exeter hockey ace scored England's 47th minute winner in a tense 1-0 victory over Belgium in New Delhi to tee up Friday's semi-final against New Zealand (1215 GMT).
England's winning team also included another Reading Hockey forward from Somerset, Simon Mantell, who won the penalty corner, converted by Carson.
Carson's drag-flick winner was just reward for his perseverance after the 23-year-old from Wellington had a first half effort ruled out following a video referral.
England topped Pool A in qualifying for today’s quarter finals with Carson scoring in a 2-1 win over Olympic champions Germany.
