Clifton Ladies Hockey Club return to top flight England Hockey League action tomorrow.
Second placed Clifton resume their Investec Women’s Hockey Premier Division programme at home to seventh placed Reading at the University of Bristol’s Coombe Dingle Sports Complex knowing victory would put them level on points with leaders Surbiton at the start of 2015.
Aileen Davis’ Clifton side won 1-0 at Reading during a flying three-wins-in-a-row start to the 2014-2015 season.
In the first half of the season, before the annual mid-season midwinter break, Surbiton – who won 2-1 at Coombe Dingle in October – are the only side to have beaten Clifton this term.
It’s another big year for the Bristol club, with a mouth-watering Women’s Cup quarter final derby at Gloucester City on the horizon next month.
But first skipper-manager Davis and her team will want the new year’s outdoor season to continue where the old one left off and extend a six-match winning streak by beating Reading.
Tomorrow’s free-to-see Women’s Premier Divison match between Clifton and Reading at Coombe Dingle starts at 1300.
The full Investec Women’s Hockey League programme resumes on Saturday February 7.
The full men’s NOW: Pensions Hockey League programme resumes a day later, Sunday February 8, although there are outstanding matches being played on February 1 and 7.
Both men and women’s regional league programmes restarted earlier this month following the annual winter break.
