Only three sides start the day with 100 per cent records in Women’s Conference West.
Free scoring Sutton Coldfield, Swansea Spartans and Oxford Hawks have won their opening two games.
Newly promoted West Clubs Women’s Hockey League champions University of Bristol – who lost their opening two games, at Gloucester and Swansea – will be hoping for better fortune back on home ground at Coombe Dingle Sports Complex.
Spartans hit seven past the students last Saturday but will anticipate a tougher home test against Southampton’s Trojans.
Hawks, beaten 4-2 at home by Sevenoaks in the Women’s Cup, face a tough away test at unbeaten Gloucester City, buoyed by their 4-0 first round cup win at Team Bath Buccaneers.
City’s reward? A plum home second round tie against Premier side East Grinstead on October 25.
One thing is assured following tomorrow’s third round of league matches: Isca University or Firebrands, who meet at the University of Exeter Sports Park, are set to pick up their first point(s) of the season after winless starts.
Clifton Ladies – who lost 4-0 at home to Canterbury in the Premier Division last Saturday – bid to get back on track on the road, at Holcombe.
Men’s Conference West champions Cardiff & Met’s winning start to their title defence will be put to the test by University of Birmingham, who have also won their opening two games.
Early leaders Cheltenham visit league newcomers Chichester while for the first time in decades Isca will start as favourites against hosts University of Exeter in the Devon derby.
