Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club select from a squad of 16 for their Men’s Cup last 16 clash at Surbiton today (1200).
Plymouth bid to bounce back from yesterday’s 6-3 West of England & South Wales Premiership defeat at Cardiff University.
Surbiton also lost yesterday, 3-2 to London derby rivals Wimbledon, despite Alan Forsyth’s 15th goal of the England Hockey League season.
Back to back defeats mean Surbiton slip off the Men’s Premier summit.
Plymouth skipper Phil Mutlow admits: “Whichever way you look at it… it’s an exciting game for us and it’s important we enjoy the experience.
“We realise they scored 10 at Chelmsford in the last round so we know what we are up against. I am guessing what will hit us is the pace they play but that will be a new experience for all of us, because none of us have played in the Premier (Division).”
Defender Mutlow is one of only two Plymouth players – the other is Matt Bell – with national league experience.
Plymouth Marjon squad Ben Blundy (GK) Phil Mutlow (capt) Joe Downton, Jamie Hill, Dave Lynch, George Thomas, George Bissett, Ben Thomas, Matt Smith, Matt Bell, Ben Anning, Sam Skelton, Ryoki Arimoto, Matt Bodily, Matt Butt, Ian White
