SOUTH WEST RUGBY sides in Community Cup finals

There was plenty of excitement last weekend at the Women’s Community Cup and Men’s Regional 1 Championship Finals.
Cheltenham Tigers women’s 1st XV and 2nd XV, Bristol’s Ding Crusaders and Gloucestershire’s Drybrook – from the Forest of Dean – were among the cup winners.
The second set of Finals Days this weekend are set to be another celebration of grassroots regional rugby.
Twickenham will play host to four finals tomorrow including North Bristol against Gloucester Old Boys in the Men’s Counties 3 & Below Championship Final (1100ko).
Today Sixways, Worcester hosts the Men’s Regional 1 Bowl, Shield and Plate Finals, with Banbury facing West Bridgford at 1300, Wirral taking on Launceston – from Cornwall - at 1500 and Macclesfield going head-to-head with Maidenhead (1700ko).
Today London’s StoneX Stadium – Premiership Saracens home ground - welcomes Counties 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Regional 2 men’s teams competing in the men’s South Plate.
Gloucestershire boasts three plate finalists.
Cheltenham’s Old Patesians meet Harlequin Amateurs (1100ko), Chipstead play Bream from the Forest of Dean (1300) and Twickenham face Longlevens from Gloucester (1700).
The action continues in the capital tomorrow in the men's South Shield finals as Chess Valley play south Devon’s Dartmouth (1100ko) in the 3/4 counties final and Somerset side Wells meet Vigo from Gravesend, Kent at 1300, in the 2 counties final.
Over 500 clubs have competed for a place in one of the 29 Papa Johns Cup finals across the women’s and men’s game.
The new competition was created to provide a crescendo to the end of the grassroots season, keeping players engaged throughout the spring and giving clubs a chance to compete for silverware whatever their final league positions.
Through the Papa Johns Community Cup, clubs have been able to play different opposition and visit new places, while others have reignited old local rivalries.
