Over 500 supporters from Somerset are expected to cheer-on Wells RFC when they meet Yorkshire’s Wath upon Dearne in tomorrow’s 2012 RFU Senior Vase final at Twickenham (1300).
Newly-promoted Wells head into the final on the back of last week’s 18-10 Somerset Premier play-off win over Drybrook which has secured them a Western Counties place for the first time.
Experienced director of rugby Peter Kennedy - who teamed up with Wells at the start of the season - has been recognised as the prime motivator in the Somerset club's success.
Team manager and prop Richard Hickman, 41, acknowledges: “Peter’s made us better organised and the players now believe in themselves.
“We’ve always known we had the talent but Peter’s taken us that extra step and he’s certainly got a no-nonsense approach to training.”
Wells are skippered by flanker Ben Knight, who lines up alongside his younger brothers, top try-scoring centre Alex and 22 year-old scrum half Jake. Fly half Aaron Cook is the side’s top scorer with over 300 points.
