southwestsportsnews editor ross reidWith the cold snap biting hard into sports fixtures across the region I thought this might be a good time to catch up with you my vauled southwestsportsnews supporters and followers.

You may have noticed in recent weeks that I have been adding a link to the swsportsnews twitter site which enables me to directly interact with sports clubs and supporters across the region and beyond.

If you are not on twitter you can still get regular southwestsportsnews updates on facebook by liking the site.

I used to send out email updates but - to be honest - as an independent concern found it detracted from the work I am trying to achieve. Besides I want southwestsportsnews followers to be pro-active. By its very nature sport calls for input and interaction as well as hard work, dedication and enthusiasm.

Another aim for southwestsportsnews - which is now racing towards its third anniversary - is to become even more diverse in 2011 when we also plan a celebratory "birthday" revamp. Before then you should notice subtle changes which I hope will improve your enjoyment of your visits to our special sports field.

My continual gratitude goes to Keith White at Michael Spiers Exclusive Jewellery for his unstinting support and encouragement since the inception of southwestsportsnews in April 2008 likewise to ace lensman Phil Mingo at Pinnacle Photo Agency UK.

Eagle-eyed followers will notice we have since acquired more prestigous supporters on the way - the Plymouth Half Marathon, University College Plymouth Marjon and University of Exeter Sport - all of whom we are delighted to be working alongside to promote sport in the region.

Please support these wonderful people in return.

In the meantime - as ever - thank YOU for your support and please help spread the word about southwestsportsnews. The more people that know about the site, the more people will know about your sports interest.
