TeamBath will now have to wait until tomorrow night to confirm a home tie in the Fiat Netball Superleague play-offs after losing 60-47 to Surrey Storm at the University of Bath last night.
Last night’s defeat means the two teams will meet again in the first round of the play-offs and they go into the final round of regular season games level on points.
TeamBath have a superior goal average and victory over bottom side Glasgow Wildcats in Scotland tomorrow should be enough to ensure TeamBath will host Storm again in the play-offs. Storm face top of the table Hertfordshire Mavericks in their last game of the regular season on Saturday.
The reigning champions scored an impressive 56-42 away victory over second placed Northern Thunder on Monday.
TeamBath head coach Jess Garland concedes: “Having a home tie in the first round of the play-offs would give us a big advantage. We have the best fans in the Superleague.”
TeamBath edged the first quarter 15-14 against Northern Thunder, but stretched their lead to 30-24 by the half way mark. They had opened up a 10-goal advantage at 43-33 at the end of the third quarter before closing the game out at 56-42.
Young goal shooter Rosie Allison scored 28 goals from 31 attempts (90 per cent) with captain Pamela Cookey adding 22 shots from 25 and Asha Tett chipping in with five from seven at the end of the game.
