Team Bath Tennis ace Toby Samuel will gain more Grand Slam experience after being awarded wild card entry into the men’s singles main draw at Wimbledon 2026.It will be a second successive Grand Slam appearance for Samuel coached by Ian MacDonald and Tiernan Brady, after making his debut at the French Open last month.
Samuel, who reached a new career high of 144 in the ATP world rankings this week, has been preparing for Wimbledon by competing on the grass courts at the Lexus Ilkley Open, reaching the quarter-finals, and the HSBC Championships.
The latter was Samuel’s first appearance on the famous Queen’s Club courts and his Round of 32 match against former Junior Wimbledon doubles team-mate Arthur Fery was the first-ever ATP 500 match for both players.
It proved to be a tough afternoon for Samuel, who slipped to a 6-0 6-2 defeat on Court 1, but it was a rare setback for the Team Bath Tennis player during an excellent 12 months which has seen him rise from 1,405th in the world to his current high.
Winchester-born Samuel, 23, was raised in St Leonard's, Dorset
