Exeter University men’s first team bounced back from an opening defeat to beat Oxted 2-1 at University of Birmingham to win promotion to England Hockey’s 10 team top flight.

Cornwall and Wiltshire cricketers made winning starts to the Minor Counties season yesterday with Unicorns KO Trophy preliminary round victories.
The Duchy beat Dorset by seven wickets at North Perrott CC while Wiltshire edged to a two-wicket win over Wales Minor Counties at Warminster CC with an over to spare.

Exeter University face two must-win England Hockey play-off games next weekend if they want to win promotion back to the Men’s Premier Division.
The Conference West champions were beaten 2-1 by Notttingham University in their play-off opener in Nottingham yesterday despite taking a 12th minute lead through Sam Hooper following a penalty corner.
