St Mellion touring professional James Ruth maintained his opening day three stroke-lead to win the Altorreal Futures Open in Spain today with an eye catching 12 under par 204 total.
The 26-year-old led the 54-hole Hi5 Pro Tour tournament from start to finish after opening with a scorching eight under 64.

St Mellion's James Ruth topped the Altorreal Futures Open leaderboard with a scorching eight under par 64 opening round in Spain today.
Ruth, 26, rallied from an opening bogey five at the first to rack up eight birdies and take a three-shot lead on the first day of the three-day Hi5 Pro Tour event in Murcia.

University of Exeter warmed up for Saturday’s eagerly-anticipated clash at home to England Hockey League leaders East Grinstead with a creditable 1-1 draw at Surbiton.
Rob Mugridge scored the greens opening goal four minutes into the second half and although Surbiton – who started the day fifth – replied through Ben Tibble in the 48th minute, the students picked up their first valuable point in four Men’s Premier Division matches.
