Plymouth Leander Swimming are club champions of England & Wales for the fourth time in five years after dominating the 43rd National Arena League Final in Sheffield.
From the outset Leander – coached by Jon Rudd – set the pace in the pool and eventually won 22 of the 50 events breaking eight meet records in the process.

Cornwall’s 2008 Olympic open water bronze medallist Cassandra Patten has announced her retirement from swimming due to an ongoing shoulder injury.
Cardinham-born Patten, 24, won bronze in Beijing and has two World Championship 10 km Open Water silvers.

The Great Britain team for August's 3rd FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Lima, Peru, will include Plymouth Leander's rising young star Grant Halsall and Bath teenage swiming sensation Siobhan-Marie O'Connor.
The 18-strong squad announced by British Swimming also includes Amelia Maughan (Millfield/British Gas ITC Bath) as well as new senior national 200 metres individual medley champion O’Connor (TeamBath/Bath University).

Liam Tancock defended his 50m backstroke world title to collect a third gold medal for the British Gas GBR Swim Team on the final day of the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai.
Having qualified fastest for the final, the world record holder from Exeter dominated from the gun before touching in 24.50 – the fourth fastest time of his career and his quickest for two years.

Devon’s Commonwealth Games silver medallist Antony James clocked a season’s best time in the British Gas ASA National Championships men’s 100m Butterfly final to dip under the time needed to qualify for next month's 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai.
The Plymouth Leander swimmer led from gun to wall, ultimately touching in a season’s best 52.13 at Pond’s Forge, Sheffield.

Exeter's Commonwealth champion Liam Tancock narrowly missed out on the 100m Backstroke medals on day three of the 2011 FINA World Swimming Championships in Shanghai.
The British Gas ITC Loughborough swimmer, who will begin the defence of his world 50m Backstroke title on Saturday, clocked a season’s best 53.25 from lane one to finish just 0.26 off the podium positions in China.

South West swim star Liam Tanock made it another golden day for Team England in the Delhi pool by winning the XIX Commonwealth Games men's 100m backstroke in record time.
Tancock - from Exeter - saw off his final rivals with a superb swim to touch first in a new Commonwealth record 53.59 and add another Games gold medal to the one he raced to in the 50m backstroke.
