Wales captain and Great Britain international defender Leah Wilkinson has retired from international hockey after winning 204 caps.Burton-on-Trent born Wilkinson, 36, is Wales’ most capped ever sports person, featuring in four Commonwealth games, nine European Championships and winning a bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics for Team GB.

With the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup just two months away, Wales men are set to take part in a preparation tournament in Cadiz, Spain from December 10-21. The selected squad of 24 will play six games against high-level opposition including Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Japan and Korea during the Nations League Road to India 2023 tournament.

This weekend’s eagerly anticipated end-of-season Devon Hockey Finals will be hosted at two venues this year.Exeter University hosts four of the five free to see finals today while last night the purpose-built hockey pitch at Plymouth Marjon University staged the women’s plate final between Plymouth’s Devonport Services and Totnes-based Dart (pictured).
