LYLE HITS CUP WINNING SIX OFF FINAL BALL

cornwall cricket crestTom Lyle smashed a sensational six off the final ball as Werrington beat Callington by three wickets to win the 2011 Clive Rosevear Hawkey Cup final at St Austell CC last night.

 

Werrington required eight to win off the last two balls and Lyle obliged with a four and then a cup-clinching six.

 

Callington made 129-7 with Dan Davis on 36.

 

Alex Smeeth made 38 and Paul Smith 35 as Werrington made 132 for 7.

 

Werrington will now meet St Just in the WT Edwards Final at Truro CC next Wednesday at 1745.

 

Last night's finalists meet again at Werrington in Sunday's Cornwall Cricket League Premier 50-50 Cup final.
