MINOR COUNTIES Wiltshire, Cornwall down to last ball

There was a breath-taking finish to Cornwall CCC’s Minor Counties Championship Western Division match against Wiltshire CCC at Grampound Road CC.

All results were possible right up to the last delivery.

Wiltshire’s last pair - Ashur Morrison, 85no batting at seven, and Joe King - survived a huge appeal, for both a catch and run out, off the last ball.

They were both given not out and the match was declared a draw.

Wiltshire ended up just 14 runs short of victory, having been set a big target of 352 in 72 overs.

Cornwall's Bradley Wadlan took 5-127 to claim 11 wickets in the match while Wiltshire's Ed Young scored 105 before being caught by Antony Angove off Matt Rowe's bowling. Rowe had scored a second innings century (107) for the home side.

Due to overnight rain play was delayed for an hour in the morning. Cornwall batted up to lunch and were 303 all out in their second innings.

At the halfway mark of the Championship season Cornwall still lead the table, by three points, from Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
