Dorset, Berkshire, Shropshire and Suffolk booked their places in the National Counties Trophy semi-finals with quarter-final victories over Buckinghamshire, Cheshire, Northumberland and Cambridgeshire respectively yesterday.

Dorset’s 47 runs victory over Buckinghamshire at Wimborne was based on aggressive innings from the Eckland brothers, Joe and Alex.

COUNTIES CRICKET Regional T20 Trophy round-up

Seamer James Rudge set a Herefordshire bowling record by taking five for 10 to help clinch a 50 runs victory over Wiltshire in the second match of their opening National Counties T20 double-header at Eastnor.

Wiltshire eased to an eight wickets win in the opener but Herefordshire gained swift revenge in the second match by 50 runs with Rudge becoming the first bowler from the county to take five wickets in a T20 innings.

CambridgeshireSuffolkBuckinghamshire and Cheshire booked their places in the quarter-finals of the National Counties Trophy on a tense final day of group matches.

They joined the already-qualified Northumberland, Shropshire, Berkshire and Dorset in the last eight which will be played on Sunday June 1.

Dorset, NorthumberlandShropshire and Berkshire all secured National Counties Trophy quarter-final spots with a round to play.

Oxfordshire crashed to a 19 runs National Trophy opening defeat against Cornwall at St Just after a spectacular collapse which saw them lose their last six wickets for 11 runs.

COUNTIES CRICKET 2024 Final round round-up

Durant cricket championshipStaffordshire booked their place in the final of the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship by clinching the Eastern Division One title with a 67 runs win over Buckinghamshire at High Wycombe.

Staffordshire’s win ended Buckinghamshire’s reign as both Eastern Division and national champions and they will now face Berkshire in the four-day final at West Bromwich Dartmouth starting on September 1.
