Holders St Just are through to this year’s Vinter Cup Final following a 66-run win over Helston at Hayle CC last night.
St Just made 147-5 with Gary Thomas hitting 41. Helston were in trouble from the start with Kiwi seamer Adam Williams taking 6 for 9 including a hat-trick. They recovered to 81 all out in the last over.
St Just will now meet Paul in the final on Wednesday July 13 at Camborne CC.
In last night’s Hawkey Cup quarter final replay Callington beat Roche by seven wickets after being set 95 to win. Callington will meet Newquay in the semi-finals on the provisional date of Sunday July 17.
Four of the five Jolly’s Drinks Cornwall ECB Premier League games tomorrow will start an hour earlier at noon, due to Cornwall’s Minor Counties game which starts at Chester on Sunday morning. The exception is the Werrington v Falmouth game (Ladycross, 1300).
The match of the day is at leaders Paul where the defending champions host third placed St Just. Elsewhere second play fourth when Truro take on Callington. Troon and St Austell meet in a mid table clash while Newquay look to break their duck at home to Grampound Road. In County One the leaders Camborne are at Roche while nearest contenders Redruth host Truro seconds.
There are a couple of big games on Sunday in the county. In the Premier Fifty/50 Cup semi-final Werrington play St Just (Ladycross, 1300) and in the National Village Cup Round 5 Roche host former winners, Welsh side Ynystawe from near Swansea (Trezaise Road, 1400).
