CALLINGTON TOP PREMIER LEAGUE

cornwall cricket logoCallington top the Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League following a 101-run win at Truro.

 

Matt Robins made 63 not out as Callington posted 189 for 9. Truro crashed to 88 all out with Sanjaya Rajapakse taking 5 for 25.

 

St Just and Paul are equal second after St Just got the better of a draw in their big derby game at Hutchens Park.

 

St Just made 251 for 5 with half centuries for Gary Thomas and David Roberts.

 

Paul were hanging on at 219 for 9. Kelvin Snell made 77 and Nick George took six wickets.

 

Falmouth were bowled out for 173 at Werrington. Alex Smeeth then made 87 not out as Werrington cruised home by eight wickets.

 

St Austell won a close encounter at Troon by 11 runs. Andrew Libby made 73 in their 135 all out. Troon were all out for 124 in reply.

 

Newquay remain bottom after a five wicket home defeat by Grampound Road. They made 112 all out with Grampound Road replying with 117 for 5.

 

The County Division 1 leaders Camborne made it 10 wins in a row with a 62 run win at Roche. The results were

Beacon 158                 beat                 Hayle 130

 

Penzance 207-5          lost to               Luckett 210-4

 

Redruth 249-9             beat                 Truro seconds 129-9

 

Launceston 87            lost to                Wadebridge 89-3

 

 

Today Cornwall start a three day championship game with Cheshire at Chester, Werrington host St Just in the Premier Fifty50 Cup semi final at 1300 and Roche are at home to Welsh side Ynystawe in the National Village Cup (1400).
