COUNTIES CRICKET championship team news July 27

Berkshire, who drew with Devon in the first match of their Western Division title defence, head to Truro to play Cornwall with Datchet slow left-armer Jack Laraman included in the squad for a possible debut.

Former Middlesex seamer Toby Greatwood has recovered from a shoulder injury that ruled him out of the Devon match.

Herefordshire return to Western Division One after a two-year absence but they are without captain Matt Pardoe who is unavailable for Oxfordshire’s visit to Eastnor.

Ollie Walker will captain the side in Pardoe’s absence and there are Championship debuts for Harry Sockett, Sinel Gunarathne, Hasan Mahmood, Cyrus Shafi and Ben Clements.

Oxfordshire give a debut to pace bowler Eesa Nadeem, a product of Warwickshire’s pathway programme, in place of the unavailable Tom Davis. George Tait, who was unavailable for the draw with Cornwall, returns.

Sunday’s play will be preceded by a minute’s silence in memory of Herefordshire’s former match manager Derek Hince who passed away this week aged 87.

Dorset return to action for the first time since they won the National Counties Trophy two weeks ago but it is a much-changed side who will take the field for a re-match with Shropshire at Wimborne in Western Division Two.

Just five members of the side which beat Shropshire in the 50 overs final two weeks ago, will play on Sunday with Ben Jack of South Wilts a newcomer and Ethan Baker and Joe Carson Championship debutants. Ed Bartlett is included for his first county appearance of the season.

Shropshire have made three changes to the side involved in the draw with Cheshire with Wombourne all-rounder Chad Brandrick called up for his Championship debut and first county appearance in six years.

Whitchurch seamer Alex Heath and batter Will Tarrant, who has extensive Second XI experience with Derbyshire, will make their debuts for Shropshire.

Cheshire have also made three changes for Wiltshire’s visit to Alderley Edge.

Batter Luke McCoy is recalled and Wallasey all-rounder Seb Botes and Northern slow left-armer Dan Wilson will make their first appearances of the season.
