COUNTIES CRICKET Championship preview August 10

Devon seamer Matt Skeemer will make his seasonal debut on his home club ground against Cornwall in today's Western Division One match at Cornwood (1100).

Paignton batter Luke Medlock makes his Championship debut with Rhys Davies (family commitments) and Matt Jeacock (injury) dropping out from the side that drew with Berkshire last time out.

Cornwall give a debut to Grampound Road batter Tom Orpe as one four changes to their side.

Ben Ellis and spinners Max Tryfonos and Ellis Whiteford all return with Will MacVicar again deputising as captain as Paul Smith’s new parental duties restrict his availability for three-day cricket.

Reigning Western Division champions Berkshire have in-form batter Jonny Connell available for a Championship match for the first time this season against Herefordshire at the Falkland club in Newbury.

Connell missed the draws with Devon and Cornwall as he was trialling with Essex and now returns as one of four changes.

Euan Woods, Ben Salter and Andrew MacEwen also return as Berkshire seek their first win of the season in a division in which all four matches so far have been drawn.

Former Worcestershire batter Matt Pardoe, who missed the draw with Oxfordshire, returns to captain Herefordshire and there are Championship debuts for Sinel Gunarathne and Ollie Langford.

Another former Worcestershire left-hander, Taylor Cornall, and seamer Roshan Venkataraman have their first Championship outings this season.

Wales NC give a Championship debut to seamer Asim Hameed against Cheshire at Abergavenny in Western Division Two.

Contracted Glamorgan batter Callum Nicholls and fit-again all-rounder Rhodri Lewis also come into the side that drew with Wiltshire.

Cheshire make four changes to the side that drew with Wiltshire in a nail-biter last time out.

Batters Sam Perry and Alex Money, all-rounder Andy Jackson and seamer Sam Grant are all recalled.

Wiltshire give a debut to Cardiff UCCE all-rounder Tom Vermaak against neighbours Dorset at Corsham.

Leg-spinner Charan Chahal, who played in the T20 double-header against Dorset at Westbury, will make his Championship debut.

Dorset have Hampshire batter/wicketkeeper Joe Eckland available this weekend and batter Dylan Church returns to face his former county.

Bashley (Rydal) off-spinner Cam Basey is also included in Dorset’s senior squad for the first time.

Former Glamorgan batter Tom Cullen will make his debut for Bedfordshire against Norfolk at Flitwick in Eastern Division Two.

Cullen played regularly for Wiltshire two years ago but has now been signed by Bedfordshire and included in a 13-man squad.
