LEAGUE ONE Plymouth Argyle 2 Bristol Rovers 2

English Football League logoBristol Rovers sub Gavin Reilly glanced home a stoppage time leveller as Graham Coughlan’s side drew 2-2 at Plymouth Argyle in League One.

Reilly - who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, literally - headed on James Clarke’s curling cross to take the ball beyond the reach of six foot seven keeper Matt Macey.

Plymouth’s Portugese playmaker Ruben Lameiras broke the South West derby deadlock on 51 minutes.

Lameiras jinked into the area down the right, exchanged passes with David Fox, and then curled the ball past diving keeper Jack Bonham.

It was the first goal Rovers had conceded after keeping successive clean sheets in four unbeaten games.

Rovers' reply was out of the blue with Jonson Clarke-Harris ending his attacking run with a thumping angled strike into the top corner from 20 yards which gave Macey no chance on 72 minutes.

Three minutes later Argyle regained the lead as Lameiras' bouncing corner was headed in off the underside of the bar by Rovers central defender Tony Craig.

Macey made a superb save in first half stoppage time to deny Tom Nichols as he met skipper Ollie Clarke’s cross from the right with a goal-bound strike.

Rovers boss and former promotion-winning Argyle central defender Graham Coughlan said: “There were two good teams out there, both have made remarkable strides since we last met in September - both have come on leaps and bounds - and had I been a neutral today I would have enjoyed that game.”

Resurgent Rovers are now five unbeaten as they prepare to head to seventh placed Doncaster on Tuesday.

Derek Adams' Argyle - now four points clear of the bottom four - visit eighth placed Blackpool next Saturday.
