LEAGUE ONE Adams adamant Argyle must win next game

argyle logo2013Plymouth Argyle boss Derek Adams knows exactly what the relegation-haunted greens have to do following today's 3-0 home League One defeat by automatic-promoting chasing Barnsley.

"We have got to win our next game," says Adams, who side were undone within 28 minutes and goals by Cauley Woodrow, Jacob Brown and Alex Mowatt.

Argyle are now 20th, just a point above last day Home Park opponents Scunthorpe, who host relegated Bradford next Saturday.

Adams says: “We have got to go to Accrington and then we have got Scunthorpe here.

“We know what we have to do but we have got to win the next game and that is important.

“If we win our remaining games we will have done our job but we have got to do that.”

Adams believes second placed Barnsley are heading for promotion: “I thought for the first 15 minutes we pressed Barnsley very well and started the way we wanted to start the game.

“Unfortunately for us we lost possession in their half, they launched the ball forward – a 40 or 50 yard pass -  into our area.

“It’s landed between our right back and right centre half and it was a good strike from Woodrow to get the first goal.

“The second goal, our players were calling for offside. I don’t know if it was. It was another diagonal pass this time left to right in behind us. Opposite side this time between the left back and left centre half and they get the second.

“And they get their third, from a free kick, with outstanding ability.

“Listen Barnsley are a quality side. They are one of the best sides we have played in this division.

“They have got outstanding ability throughout their team, they pass, they move, they have got strength-in-depth.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they are playing in the Championship next season."
