The Seagulls' mauling of Launceston at Pennygillam served as a warning that Jake Ash’s side are ready for another tilt at the title.
Amaro Bakayoko scored a hat-trick, Tallan Mitchell and Kieran Toland (cracking free kicks) bagged two each and Hayden Turner added the other as the Clarets were swept aside.
The game was over as a contest as early as the 22nd minute with Mousehole racing into a 3-0 lead and confirmation that it was going to be their day came when Mitchell increased the lead before the half hour.
Mitchell produced a goal of the season contender on the opening Saturday when he unleashed a stunning shot from 35 yards which flew into the top corner of the net.
Launceston’s players stayed out on the pitch at half-time as they were lectured about showing Mousehole too much respect and were told to ‘get stuck in’ in the second half.
The home side did put in an improved second half showing, keeping the score at 4-0 for 20 minutes, but Mousehole finished the game strongly by doubling their advantage before the final whistle.
It was a bad day for the Clarets; the only consolation is that they won’t face many teams as good as Mousehole.
For Ash’s team, they have set their standard. Don’t expect them to win 8-0 every week, but they will be good to watch and difficult to beat.
Their passing game is very pleasing on the eye - but it’s also worth noting their work rate. They were spot on from the first minute to the last.
Goals A Bakayoko (19, 22, 86) K Toland (14, 65) T Mitchell (28, 74) H Turner (77).SWSN Star Tallan Mitchell.
