Liskeard, inspired by a great defensive display from Dylan Peel and an all-action performance from striker Tom Cleveland, recovered from a nervy start to finish as deserved winners.
Dan Jennings gave Bodmin a 24th minute lead after being played through by Adam Carter but the Blues were level before half-time with a superb right foot shot from James Lorenz which crashed into the net off the underside of the bar.
The capacity crowd of 300 must have expected Bodmin to hit back in the second half but it was Liskeard who came out of the blocks like a house on fire.
Within a couple of minutes of the restart, Cleveland took the ball around Bodmin keeper Ollie Chenoweth but from an acute angle his tap towards an unguarded net drifted inches wide.
The striker was not to be denied, however, as he turned past two Bodmin defenders to fire a low shot past Chenoweth into the far corner to make it 2-1 in the 54th minute.
Bodmin started to build up the pressure but their cause was not helped by a straight red card for Jennings after a wild challenge with 12 minutes to go.
Liskeard stood firm at the back and still looked capable of scoring, which they did three minutes from time when Lorenz cut in from the left and drilled a low shot into the net from 12 yards.
Bodmin will play much better than this and will want to forget day one.
Liskeard should enjoy the moment - and make sure they are just as impressive in their next game.
