WOMENS GOLF South West Inter County Week 2017

England Golf crestFour wins apiece and it's down to the wire for Cornwall versus defending champions Gloucestershire today to decide the 2017 South West women's team champions.

Cornwall teed off women’s South West Golf Week with a barnstorming 8½ -½ win over hosts Wiltshire at Wrag Barn.

After building up a healthy 2½-½ morning foursomes lead, Cornwall swept to a comprehensive 6-0 success in the afternoon singles.

Cornwall - who include West of England Open champion Megan Giles - followed up with a 6-3 win over Somerset and and a table-topping 9-0 victory over Dorset.

Yesterday Cornwall were given their toughest test yet by cross-Tamar rivals Devon before triumphing 5½-3½.

England county champions Gloucestershire opened their title defence with a 6-3 win over Dorset, following a 2-1 morning foursomes success and then beat hosts Wiltshire by a four point-margin 6½-2½.

In searing heat Gloucestershire fought back from trailing 2-1 against Devon to win all six singles and triumph 7-2 and then won by the same score against border rivals Somerset yesterday to warm-up for today's crunch clash against Cornwall.

Wiltshire claimed their first win of the week, defeating Dorset 6-3, before taking on Devon today.

Dorset still seek their first win as they finish the week against Somerset.

Gloucestershire have won six successive South West weeks to represent the region at the women's England County Finals... which they won last year.
