Clifton Ladies opened their 2013-14 Women's Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw at Surbiton thanks to a 15th minute equaliser from Helena Faust.
Clifton trailed to an 11th minute strike by former midfield ace Georgie Twigg, now playing for Surbiton side alongside international team-mate Giselle Ansley, making her Premier League debut.
Bristol club Clifton – now skippered by Scotland international Aileen Davis – host newly promoted Conference North champions Beeston in their first home league game of the season on Saturday at Coombe Dingle Sports Complex (1300).
Last season's 21-goal Women's Conference West top scorer Claire Thomas is back on the goal trail for Isca University.
Thomas – from North Devon – scored in the 22nd and 61st minutes to fire Isca 2-0 up against newcomers Oxford Hawks, whose own ace, Emily Court, struck from 64 and 68th minute penalty corners to earn a 2-2 draw.
Next Saturday Isca travel to Bristol's Firebrands, beaten 11-0 at defending champions Buckingham.
Gloucester City, who finished third last season, beat newly promoted Exe 3-0 with goals from Kim Pullon (24) Zoe Burford (27pc) and Megan Brazil (29) while University of Exeter graduate Amy Sheehan scored twice for Slough as they triumphed 4-2 at another of her former clubs, Trojans.
Joanne Westwood scored the sole goal as Swansea Spartans beat Barnes 1-0.
